You actually can place water in a nether if its in a cauldron
You can place water in the nether by finding the source block and the placing a glow lichen on the source block and it will turn into water

i think when people said you could place water in the nether that you had to place it in a cauldron, but I’m not sure if its always been like that.
a cauldron is not the only way to get water in the nether you can use lava and glow lichin
